
Residency Manual
I. Arrival
1. Address of Institute: Longquan Research Institute, Jingdezhen Ceramic University, Longquan City, Zhejiang Province (Building 12, Phase II of Longquan City Celadon Cultural and Creative Base).
2. Please visit the research institute on weekdays and meet with the staff.
3. After registration is complete, the staff will guide you through various spaces in the art center, including studios, kiln rooms, accommodation areas, and introduce you to colleagues in different sections of the art center.

II. Residency guidelines
1. Accommodation is only open to resident artists (please contact the staff in advance for special circumstances).

4. Please check the room facilities before check-in to ensure everything is in good condition. Please keep the equipment in good condition and the room tidy during your stay.
5. Each room is equipped with basic living necessities such as air conditioning, hairdryer, hangers, racks, bedding, slippers, bath towels, shower gel, and shampoo. Makeup and washing tools (toiletries) need to be brought or purchased by yourself. (If you need assistance from the staff to purchase, please contact them in advance.)
6. Each artist is provided with one key per room. Please keep it safe.
7. Before leaving the room, please turn off the lights, air conditioning, and other electrical devices.
8. If you find any problems with the electrical facilities in the room during your stay, please contact the staff promptly.
9. Do not use large equipment such as kilns in the room without permission. The user is responsible for all consequences.
10. The institute is equipped with 2 washing machines and 1 dryer. The laundry room is free to use, and if needed, the institute staff will assist and guide you in using the relevant cleaning equipment in the accommodation area.
11. Every 2 weeks, cleaning staff will be arranged to clean and replace bedding such as quilts and sheets in the rooms. If you have requests for changing quilts, sheets, and toiletries, please inform the staff in advance.
12. In addition to the institute's scheduled outings, if you need to go out privately for more than 1 day (leave the institute), please inform the staff in a timely manner.
13. Smoking is not allowed in the institute's public spaces.
14. Any intentional damage to the institute's public facilities, equipment, kitchen, guest rooms, and other tools and facilities will be compensated at cost.

III. International Ceramic Studio
1. Open 24 hours a day, Monday to Sunday. The last artist leaving the studio should turn off all lights and close doors and windows.
2. To maintain a quiet and safe working environment, please inform institute staff in advance if there are artist guests.
3. For guidance on glaze colors, the studio features a dedicated wall adorned with test strips. Each strip is labeled on the back with details such as the glaze names, sources, firing temperatures, and atmospheres.
4. The studio offers three typical local clay materials in Longquan and their test strips.
5. The tool room is equipped with basic ceramic making tools. If needed, please contact the staff to open the door. After use, please clean the tools and return them. (If you need special tools or equipment, please contact the staff)
6. After using the glazing machine, please clean it promptly for the next artist's use.
7. For materials that produce smoke and toxic gases, please use them in well-ventilated open spaces. The use of toxic, flammable, and explosive materials is strictly prohibited in the studio.
8. If you need to use a kiln, please apply to the staff 2 days in advance.
9. If artists hire local workers to work in the studio, please inform the staff in advance.
10. Dispose of waste clay, glaze, and other non-recyclable garbage in the designated bins.
11. During studio work, please avoid loud noise and high-volume music.
12. Keep the personal workspace in the studio clean.
13. In the event of visits from local authorities during the residency, staff will notify you in advance. Please cooperate actively.
14. The studio will organize periodic meetings on the second floor of the institute for resident artists to discuss issues related to living and creation, plan future work arrangements, and update the residency plan according to the confirmed schedule after the meeting.

IV. Self-Service Public Kitchen Usage Guidelines
1. The institute provides a self-service kitchen with various kitchen facilities, including a microwave, oven, refrigerator, stove, and basic kitchen utensils. Institute staff will offer detailed guidance on using these facilities.
2. The institute will supply essential ingredients (such as eggs, rice, noodles, oatmeal, and butter) and beverages (coffee, tea, and beer). For additional needs, artists can purchase items locally.
3. Artists and staff share access to the refrigerator. Please store food in covered containers, clearly labeled with your name and date.
4. After using the kitchen, ensure it is cleaned thoroughly. Turn off all kitchen appliances and close the gas valve to ensure safety.
5. Maintain a clean dining environment and avoid taking meals outside the designated dining area.
6. The institute will host a welcome dinner for artists on their first day and a farewell dinner at the end of their residency, including a birthday celebration during the artist's stay.

V. End of Residency
1. Please confirm your departure from Longquan and travel arrangements with the staff in advance.
2. Before the end of your residency, please clean your workspace, shelves, and accommodation area.
3. Please settle any additional expenses before leaving Longquan. Please fill out the residency feedback form and submit it to the staff.
4. Based on the actual situation of the artwork exhibition, please complete the handover form for any remaining artworks (the staff will provide the form to you before the end of your residency).
